More classic vinyl from our local original rock scene of the ’80s
The Rabbit Hole has widened its window into the Boston indie heyday of the 1980s with even more classic vinyl slabs from that wildly creative era when New Wave, Post Punk, and pre-grunge guitar growl ruled local stages. Stop by and get an eyeful of these disks: the stripped-down glam-punk of Lou Miami & the Kozmetix, the Blondie-meets-Spaghetti-Western innovation of Rubber Rodeo, the Mission-of-Burma/Wire style avant garde of Native Tongue, darkly gothy Mrs. Peacock, the experimental eclecticism of Men & Volts, the joyously driving roots rock of Barrence Whitfield and the Savages, Wild Stares, Scruffy the Cat, Skin, the polished rock and pop of The Buddy System, the Pixies-informed grunge of The 360′s, the garage rock of The Last Ones, Loose Ties, The Drive, and many more earlier arrivals in our new Local Indie bin, but don’t forget to check the CDs, 7″s, and DJ Vinyl sections for even more.
Check out some MP3 excerpts:
- Lou Miami & the Kozmetix – New Romantix
- Rubber Rodeo – How The West Was Won
- The 360′s – Illuminated
- The Last Ones – Number One Again
- Native Tongue – Blame It On Gravity
- Scruffy the Cat – Betty Drops In
- Mrs. Peacock – Creator

Hey all you guys over at the Rabbit Hole. I’d just like to say that what you guys are doing is wonderful. You provide a convenient place to chill out at, and add sophistication to upper Main Street. I love books, and I love that you guys keep updating your collection every now and then. Anyways, enough rambling, I’m just wondering if tomorrow’s First Thursday will have anything geared for young adults such as myself? I know it’s something about a book named “Corn,” but can you offer any more details? About this post on 80s punk rock music, I really can’t say I’m that fond of that particular genre of music, however it is cool that you posted mp3s to listen to. I wish that more blogs were music related, as I am a HUGE Radiohead fan, and could comment about many aspects of the band; from their deep philosophical viewpoints to their legacy they’ve led in the alt. rock music scene. I’ll depart here, even though I could say a lot more about music and art in general.
Peace,
